Green Collar Training

Latest Developments

Over the next 12 months or so, we are planning to launch a number of new training products.

These are likely to include:

  • Training for the unemployed, especially unemployed young people, to help them find work in the emerging ‘green economy’
  • Training for the current workforce in green skills - starting with manufacturing industry, and then broadening to include other sectors
  • Training to meet new technical challenges in the automotive sector - in particular the growth of electric vehicle and battery production, and related support services
  • Training of wind power technicians

We have committed the resources needed to explore global good practice in vocational training linked to the emerging green agenda. Working with our associates in JSA Regeneration Limited, we will be exploring how we can adapt and develop the best practice from around the world in this field to address the situation in the UK.

We have entered into a partnership with Edexcel. A Pearson company, Edexcel is the UK's largest awarding body - offering academic and vocational qualifications and testing to places of learning in the UK and internationally.

We are also a partner of Gateshead College - rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted in January 2009, obtaining grade ones across all six areas of inspection.
