Our Courses
We are currently delivering the following training programmes:
The Green Collar Award
This is an innovative training programme for manufacturing staff, which will help employers to ‘go green’.
The Green Collar Award combines sustainable development and 'green' enterprise to generate positive approaches to sustainable practice in the workplace.
The course delivers two national qualifications at level 2, accredited by NCFE. Sustainable Development and Developing Enterprise Capabilities are combined into one training experience. Together, they broaden the workforce's understanding of environmental issues and how they can actively contribute to green improvement projects in the workplace. It brings the company’s green policies to life.
Green Collar Training Pre Employment Programme
This course has been specially developed to meet the needs of unemployed people who are interested in pursuing careers in the Region’s manufacturing sector, in particular with Nissan and its suppliers.
The course, provides five weeks of training, and is free of charge to the unemployed. It is supported by Jobcentre Plus.
The training covers a mix of hand skills, health & safety, lean manufacturing techniques and relevant environmental topics. It provides an insight into the future of manufacturing, including the production of electric vehicles.
Candidates who successfully complete the course can be fast-tracked into Nissan’s selection process. They may also choose to progress on to an appropriate nationally-recognised qualification.

“Our experience would suggest that there is a close relationship between many of the lean tools and techniques used to effect improvements in productivity, and the drive for more sustainable use of resources.”
